Barrie Beard Ltd were involved in the electrical and mechanical design and installation of this new state of the art health facility in Bromsgrove. The lighting installed was environmentally friendly using high efficiency lighting throughout the building. We installed 400 metres of anti-microbial Profila/Compact data cable trunking throughout, to manage the power and data cabling requirements. This trunking is designed specifically for use in environments such as hospitals, schools and nursing homes. The anti-microbial solution incorporates silver ion technology. Tests carried out at Churchfield GP Surgery on the anti-microbial trunking showed a reduction in levels of bacteria on surfaces by up to 99%.
bhi Parkside is the very best facility of its kind in the country; the building’s main function is to provide unmatched facilities for two GP practices. Light and airy reception areas lead to modern consulting facilities and treatment areas. On the top floor there are additional consulting areas: the Birmingham University Medical Teaching Unit, practice managerial areas and ultra-modern conference and seminar facilities. The ground floor has multi-purpose clinic areas where the practices will run specialised chronic disease management clinics. There is also a large health promotion room and operating facilities far in advance of those normally seen in general practice.
The ground floor clinics have also been designed so that, if necessary in pandemic situations, they can provide a separate unit to assess patients. The two surgeries are joined on the ground floor of the building by a large Lloyds Pharmacy, Parkside Dental Practice, Catherine Adams Physiotherapy and the Castle Nursery.
This landmark building and development on Market Street Bromsgrove has transformed the town and is an impressive start to Bromsgrove’s town centre regeneration programme.
